*Peru’s presidential spokesperson, Fredy Hinojosa, has said that the state oil company, Petroperú, will not be privatised despite a request from the company’s executive board for it to be placed under “private management”. Hinojosa said: “We want to be absolutely clear that President Dina Boluarte’s government will not privatise Petroperú”. The company’s board has said that Petroperú requires a US$2.2bn bailout, which it said should not be paid from the public purse.
