In brief: Vehicle sales, exports up in Mexico, quarterly production stagnates

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has revealed new figures which show that 124,395 light vehicles were sold in the domestic market in March, up 4.7% in yearly terms. In the first quarter of 2024, 349,752 light vehicles were sold in the domestic market, up 10.99% on the same quarter in 2023. According to Inegi, 927,781 light vehicles were produced in the first quarter of 2024, up 0.61% on the same quarter of 2023, while 301,976 light vehicles were produced in March, down 12.75% in yearly terms. In March 2024, 286,002 light vehicles were exported, marking a 4.88% increase on the same month in 2023 while in the first quarter, 824,971 light vehicles were exported, up 11.29% on the same quarter in 2023.
