*Chile’s President Gabriel Boric has hailed the start of excavation works on a project to extend Line 6 of the Santiago metro by 3km. The project includes the construction of an additional station, Lo Errázuriz. The new station will connect the Santiago metro with a planned commuter line to the satellite city of Melipilla, which will be operated by state railway company Empresa de Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE). President Boric said that the Line 6 extension project will benefit approximately 90,000 inhabitants and is expected to be concluded by the end of 2027.
