EL SALVADOR: Human rights groups call for end of state of emergency

On 4 April six human rights lobby groups issued a joint statement calling for El Salvador’s state of emergency, which has been in force for the last two years, to be ended due to frequent reports of human rights violations and the alleged deaths of around 240 people in the country’s prisons.
