ARGENTINA: Authorities ramp up security presence in Rosario

Amid escalating violence in the port city of Rosario, Santa Fe province, Argentina’s right-wing government led by President Javier Milei convened a crisis committee on 8 March co-chaired by the national security minister, Patricia Bullrich, and the governor of Sante Fe, Maximiliano Pullaro. On 11 March presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni declared that Argentina is at war with “narcoterrorism”. Home of the powerful drug trafficking organisation (DTO) Los Monos, Rosario is known as the country’s deadliest city. This heightened security crackdown comes amid the Milei administration’s efforts to address long-running concerns over crime in Rosario.
