In brief: Brazil’s oil and gas production up year-on-year

*Brazil’s federal oil and gas regulator (ANP) has released its production figures for February, registering a total monthly production volume of 4.38m barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) of oil and gas. Total oil production came to 3.45m barrels per day (bpd) in February, down 2.0% from January but up 5.7% from February 2023. Monthly natural gas production came to 148.63m cubic metres per day (m3/d), down 3.4% from January but up 1.4% year-on-year. Pre-salt oil and gas accounted for 76.1% of total monthly production, registering 3.34m boepd in February. Pre-salt production was down 1.5% in monthly terms but up 2.1% compared to February last year. The deposit with the highest monthly oil and gas production was the Tupi oil field, in the Santos basin, which registered 744,680 bpd of oil and 37.3m m3/d of gas. The processing facility with the highest production in February was the Guanabara floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit, which is in the Mero oil field, Santos basin, and is operated by the state-controlled oil company Petrobras.
