*Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has announced that the country’s mining & hydrocarbons sector experienced a 15.94% year-on-year expansion in February. This was due to a 17.10% increase in mining activity and an 8.85% increase in hydrocarbons production. Inei highlighted year-on-year increases in the production of copper (+13.6%), molybdenum (+59.0%), and gold (+29.0%). The expansion of the hydrocarbons sector owed to a 28.7% increase in the production of crude oil and a 5.1% increase in liquefied natural gas production.
