*Brazil’s labour ministry has released the latest figures from its national employment registry (Novo Caged), which that that a net 306,111 new jobs created in February. This marks an increase from the net 180,395 jobs created in January. Of the five economic activity categories measured for the Novo Caged, the categories which registered the highest net job creation in February were the services sector (+193,127) and the industrial sector (+54,448). In terms of regional distribution, the states which saw the highest monthly net job creation in February were in the wealthier south-eastern and southern regions of the country. The highest job creation figures were registered in Brazil’s two most populous states, São Paulo (+101,163) and Minas Gerais (+35,980) in the southeast, followed by the southern state of Paraná (+33,043).
