In brief: Uruguay’s inflation edges down

*Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released its consumer price index (IPC) figures for February, showing that monthly inflation was 0.64%, bringing annual inflation to 4.71%. This is down from monthly inflation of 1.53% in January, when the annual inflation rate stood at 5.09%. Key contributors to the monthly rate include food & non-alcoholic drinks (0.17%), clothing & shoes (-0.05%), furniture, household goods, and other household items (0.11%), transport (0.11%), and education services (0.06%). The annual inflation rate remains within the government’s target range of 3%-6% for 2023 and 2024.
