*Honduran anti-corruption NGO Consejo Nacional Anticorrupción (CNA) has released a report warning that most of the 32 public hospitals in the country are not of an acceptable standard. CNA stated that 19 of the country’s public hospitals were “not optimal”, signifying that they are “not operational in multiple areas, as well as being deficient regarding most variables” used to assess them, such as cleanliness, order, and standardisation. A further six public hospitals were found to be in a “deplorable” condition, indicating “a calamitous sanitary situation”. On the more positive end of the scale, four hospitals were categorised as “needing improvements”, and just three were found to be fully functioning and meeting expectations on quality of care.
