*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has published new data for its monthly index of industrial activity (Imai), showing that industrial production decreased by 0.7% in December 2023. Utilities (electricity generation and transmission, provision of water and gas) decreased by 1.3% in monthly terms in December, while activities in the manufacturing industries decreased by 1.2%, and construction by 0.6%. Meanwhile, mining increased by 1.4%. In seasonally adjusted annual terms, industrial production rose by 1.2% in December 2023 compared to the same month of 2022 with construction up by 15.5% and utilities by 2.1%. Production in the manufacturing industries dropped by 2.3% in annual terms while mining fell by 1.5%.
