*Venezuela’s central bank (BCV) has released its latest consumer price index, putting monthly inflation in January at 1.7% – down from 2.4% in December. The BCV does not release annual inflation figures. However, the independent economic think tank Observatorio Venezolano de Finanzas (OVF) released its own inflation estimate on 6 February, which put monthly inflation in January at 4.2% – up from the OVF’s estimate of 3.9% in December. The OVF calculated that this brought annual inflation in January to 121%, down sharply from its estimate of 193% in December.
