CUBA: Economy minister goes
Cuba’s council of state, which is headed up by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, named Joaquín Alonso Vázquez, the president of the central bank (BCC), as the country’s new economy minister on 2 February. He replaces Alejandro Gil, who had been in the job since 2018. Juana Lilia Delgado Portal, a former deputy economy minister who has held various posts in the BCC, has been named as the central bank’s new president.
