*Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has announced that the country’s mining and hydrocarbons sector grew by 3.55% in December compared with the same month in 2022. This was due to growth of 4.09% in the mining sector, which compensated for a contraction of 0.06% in the hydrocarbons sector. Inei highlighted increases in the production of zinc (+21.1%), copper (+1.7%), and gold (+9.4%), and decreases in the production of liquefied natural gas (-5.0%) and natural gas (-1.7%).
