BRAZIL | Unemployment down. The national statistics institute (Ibge) released its latest figures for unemployment on 31 January, which showed an unemployment rate of 7.4% for the final quarter of 2023. This brings the average unemployment rate for the year to 7.8%, which marks a decrease of 1.8 percentage points compared with the 2022 average.
