In brief: Brazil’s Petrobras posts annual rise in production

*Brazil’s state-controlled oil company Petrobras has released its annual production figures for oil and natural gas, registering 2.78m barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) in 2023. This total production figure for oil and gas marks a 3.7% increase compared to 2022. According to a company press release, Petrobras registered a record figure for pre-salt oil and gas, with 2.17m boepd, making up 78% of 2023’s total production. The company highlighted strong results from four floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) units located in offshore deposits near Brazil’s south-eastern coasts: Almirante Barroso, Sepetiba, Anna Nery, and Anita Garibaldi. The combined daily production figures of these four FPSO facilities reached 480,000 boepd of pre-salt oil and gas at peak periods last year.
