In brief: Experts maintain Mexico’s growth forecast

*Economic analysts surveyed by Citibanamex, the Mexican banking unit of US financial giant Citigroup Inc, have forecast that Mexico’s GDP grew by 3.4% in 2023, in keeping with its previous (19 December) survey. The analysts raised their forecast for 2024 growth slightly, from 2.3% in December to 2.4% in the latest survey. In terms of inflation, the analysts forecast annual inflation of 4.7% in January and inflation of 4.0% in 2024, unchanging from the previous survey. The latest (14 December) forecast from the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America & the Caribbean (Eclac) predicts slightly higher growth of 3.6% in 2023 and 2.5% in 2024.
