MEXICO: Growth set to help Morena win elections
Business groups in Mexico have been critical of the nationalist rhetoric and interventionism of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as of his ineffective security policies and his inability, so far, to fire up economic growth. But things could be changing on the growth front. The economy has begun to pick up pace and is likely to help the ruling party, Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena), do well in the next presidential and congressional elections, due in June 2024.
