Familiar concerns about the PRI in Mexico

Development: On 18 April Mexico’s social development ministry (Sedesol) announced that seven officials in the eastern state of Veracruz had been removed after the opposition Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) released tapes of local Sedesol officials discussing how to use anti-poverty programmes to promote the ruling Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) ahead of the scheduled 7 July state elections.
