Trade: According to a May report released by Ecuador’s central bank (BCE), Ecuador’s exports reached US$6.13bn in the first three months of 2012, up from US$5.34bn registered over the same period in 2011. Imports reached US$5.72bn in the first three months of 2012, up from US$5.02bn over the same period in 2011. According to BCE figures, the Americas account for 79.38% of Ecuador’s exports, of which the US represents 45.8%; the Latin American integration association (Aladi), 22.0%; and the rest of the Americas, 11.6%. Meanwhile, Europe accounted for 13.9% while 6.5% of Ecuador’s exports went to Asia.
