Brazil’s supreme court considers cannabis legalisation

On 10 September Brazil's supreme court (STF) continued a debate as to whether current legislation, which considers the possession of cannabis for personal use a crime, is unconstitutional. All three judges to give their verdict so far have agreed that the possession of cannabis for personal use should be legalised. Two of them, Gilmar Mendes and Luis Roberto Barroso, also said that the cultivation of cannabis for personal use should be decriminalised. Edson Fachin, however, stated that producing the plant should be still considered a crime.
