Honduras at the heart of flare-up

The sudden spate of sabre-rattling in early March between Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador — largely but not entirely verbal — came as a surprise to almost everyone, given what had appeared to be the friendly and cooperative atmosphere that had prevailed in presidential and ministerial meetings over the previous months, precisely over the now acutely contentious issues.
