Araya home free - almost

The race in Costa Rica for the nomination of the presidential candidate for the ruling Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN) is looking increasingly like a coronation. Johnny Araya, the mayor of San José, looks likely to win the party's nomination unopposed, obviating the need for a PLN convention on 21 April. The election for a successor to President Laura Chinchilla will take place in February 2014.
