Peña Nieto focuses on Central America

In January this year, 215 weapons were stolen from a Costa Rican arms depot [RC-12-02]; in September, over 10% (22) of these guns were recovered in a series of raids in the capital of neighbouring Panama. In July 2011, an Argentine folk singer, Facundo Cabral, was gunned down in Guatemala City. ‘Palidejo’ (Alejandro Jiménez), a 37 year old Costa Rican, is believed to have masterminded the crime, acting as the ‘go-between’ between criminal gang cells operating in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama [RC-12-07]; Henry Fariñas, a Nicaraguan businessman who was with Cabral and a Nicaragua supreme electoral court (CSE) alternate magistrate, Julio César Osuna [RC-12-07] were among those involved in the criminal network that has come to light as a result of this murder.
