BOLIVIA: Morales deposed by Arce loyalists at disputed MAS congress

On 5 May the faction of Bolivia’s ruling left-wing Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) that is loyal to President Luis Arce concluded a disputed party congress by removing former president Evo Morales (2006-2019) as MAS leader, a position he has held since 1997.
