In brief: Mexico’s GDP edges up in Q1

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has announced that GDP grew by 0.2% in the first quarter of 2024 as compared with the previous quarter. This is slightly above the 0% growth forecast by economists polled by newswire Reuters. Activities in the services sector grew by 0.7% in quarterly terms, while activities in the agricultural and manufacturing sectors were down 1.1% and 0.4% respectively. In yearly terms, GDP grew by 2%, with activities in the agricultural sector up 1.3%, manufacturing up 1.5%, and services up 2.5%.
