In brief: Chile’s unemployment down slightly in yearly terms

*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has released the latest employment figures which show that the unemployment rate stood at 8.7% in the January-March rolling quarter. This marks a slight drop of 0.1 percentage points from the same period of the previous year – the first yearly drop in 16 months – and an increase of 0.2 percentage points on the preceding rolling quarter. According to the INE, the rate of informal employment stood at 28.1%, marking an increase of 0.7 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
