Electoral court sets rules on artificial intelligence

The president of Brazil’s superior electoral court (TSE), Alexandre de Moraes, has often spoken of the risks posed to democracy by disinformation generated using artificial intelligence (AI). After approving electoral rules in late February, the TSE set up a task force on 12 March which will aim to tackle disinformation ahead of municipal elections in October. However, legal experts have also warned of risks and challenges facing the regulation of AI in campaign material.
