*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released new figures showing that the country registered a trade surplus of US$2.06bn in March, up from a deficit of US$1.11bn in the same month last year. This was the fourth consecutive month in which a trade surplus was registered, following surpluses of US$1.41bn in February 2024, US$784m in January 2024, and US$1.02bn in December 2023. According to the latest Indec report, Argentina’s exports totalled US$6.39bn in March, up 11.5% on March 2023, whilst imports totalled US$4.34bn, down 36.7% year-on-year. Brazil was the main destination for Argentinian exports in March, with an export value of US$1.13bn, followed by Chile (US$476m), the US (US$380m), and Vietnam (US$320m). Brazil was also the main source of imports, accounting for US$1.01bn, followed by China (US$713m), Paraguay (US$431m), and the US (US$424m).
