MEXICO | Unemployment down. On 27 March, Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) released its latest national employment survey (Enoe) which shows that the unemployment rate in February 2024 stood at 2.5% of the economically active population – people over the age of 15 who are employed or seeking employment – equivalent to 1.5m people. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 137,000 people. In monthly terms, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points. The Enoe also shows that the number of people in Mexico’s economically active population who were employed in February 2024 numbered 60.9m
