MEXICO: Electoral violence on a rising curve

The murder of Bertha Gisela Gaytán Gutiérrez, a member of the nationally ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) and a candidate for mayor in Celaya, Guanajuato state, on 1 April has highlighted the issue of political violence in the run up to the general elections due in June.
