Opinion polls harvest data on popular frustration

As we have noted, the 2023 elections came at a moment of widespread voter dissatisfaction and growing anger with politicians. A wide range of opinion polls captured a deep sense of frustration over the quality of life and a belief that a corrupt establishment elite was driving the country down in pursuit of its own privileges and wealth. A poll by Gallup across several Latin American countries in late 2023 revealed that respondents in Argentina were the gloomiest, with 62% believing economic conditions in the country were getting worse, against only 27% who felt they were getting better.
