In brief: Peru’s mining exports rise in annual terms

*Peru’s main extractive lobby, the Sociedad Nacional de Minería, Petróleo y Energía (SNMPE) has announced that mining exports in January totalled US$3.10bn, representing an increase of 15% on January 2023. However, mining exports in January were down by 19% compared with December. According to the SNMPE, the year-on-year increase was due to an increase in the export of all minerals apart from lead, zinc, and molybdenum. Copper accounted for 46% of the value of mining exports, followed by gold (35%), and iron (6%).
