In brief: Paraguay’s inflation rate continues to drop

* Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released new figures which show that the monthly inflation rate in August was -0.2%. This brings the annual rate to 2.9%, down from the annual rate of 3.5% registered in July when monthly inflation was 0%. The July figure brought the rate within the BCP’s target of 4% for the first time in over two years. Core inflation, which excludes fuel, utilities and some food items, was running at a monthly rate of 0.1% in August this year, with annual core inflation at 3.9%.
