* Bolivia’s President Luis Arce has announced that the government has raised its estimate of Bolivia’s lithium resources to 23m tonnes (t), up from 21m t previously, which he said further cements Bolivia’s position as the global leader in lithium resources. He cited new government studies. Bolivia’s hydrocarbons & energy minister, Franklin Molina, said that during 2022-2023, 46 exploratory wells had been drilled across the Coipasa salt flat in Oruro department. President Arce also said that the government had begun talks with representatives of the European Union for investments in lithium projects. So far Bolivia’s state-owned lithium company Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB) has signed agreements with two Chinese companies and a Russian firm committing investment of US$2.8bn to develop Bolivia’s lithium sector.
