* The Dominican Republic’s tourism minister, David Collado, has announced that over 5.3m tourists visited the country in the first six months of 2023 – a new record – and that the government was on track to reach its target of 10m tourists this year. Collado said that in June alone, 707,283 tourists visited the country, up 21% on June 2018, 20% on 2019 and 10% on 2022. He said that of the total number of tourists to visit the country in the first half of the year, 4.09m arrived via air.
