* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released its latest index on mining and energy production, which shows a 7.8% rise year-on-year in May and a 10.7% rise across the first five months of 2023. Crude oil, natural gas extraction and support services was up 10.6% in May 2023, compared to the same month in 2022, extraction of silver and gold was up 15.7%, and extraction of limestone and gypsum was up 5.8%. However, granite mining fell by 10.0% year-on-year, raw dolomite mining by 4.5%, and sand, pebbles and crushed stone fell by 5.2% in comparison to May 2022.
