Could election result be harbinger of new Guatemalan spring?

The shock performance of anti-graft candidate Bernardo Arévalo in the first round of presidential elections on 25 June has upended Guatemalan politics. Arévalo, who finished second running on the ticket of the small left-of-centre Movimiento Semilla (Semilla), will face former first lady Sandra Torres (2008-2012) in the run-off on 20 August.
