* Panama’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released new figures which show that monthly inflation in May was 0.2%, bringing the year-on-year rate to 0.4%. While monthly inflation was unchanged from April, year-on-year inflation was down from 1.0%. Year-on-year inflation in May was driven by housing, water, electricity & gas (+10.9%), food and non-alcoholic drinks (+4.2%), goods & various services (+3.8%), and education (+3.7%). Sectors which showed a drop in year-on-year terms included transport (-9.9%) and health (-2.6%), among others.
