CHILE: Public security shoots to top of the agenda

As concerns with violence and public security issues continue to dominate public opinion in Chile, President Gabriel Boric has been obliged to adopt an ever-harder line against crime. His government announced and implemented a series of measures in recent weeks amid public outrage over the murders of several Carabineros military police officers, signalling a pivot towards law-and-order.
