IACHR issues warning over Bolivian polarisation

A delegation from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) concluded a five-day visit to Bolivia on 31 March, presenting a preliminary report which drew criticisms from across the political divide. It noted “a worsening of worrying situations of partisan violence, resulting from an extreme political polarisation that has caused a fracture in Bolivian society”. It added that these divisions can only be closed if political leaders on all sides “contribute with their rhetoric towards an environment that facilitates the rebuilding of the social fabric”.
