* Mexico’s mining chamber (Camimex) has stated that a reform initiative to reduce mining concessions from 50 to 15 years, extendable only once for an equal period subject to the availability of water, will damage the national economy. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador presented the reform to congress on 28 March. In response to a request for information from national daily Milenio, Camimex said it would analyse the content and scope of the proposed legal changes, saying they would imply strong repercussions for the development of the mining sector and other industrial sectors related to the production of raw materials.
