Chastening electoral defeat leaves Argentina’s Fernández reeling

Argentina’s President Alberto Fernández has two major and pressing problems. Firstly, he must respond to crushing losses suffered by his centre-left ruling coalition Frente de Todos (FdT) in the obligatory primary elections (Paso) staged on 12 September. Secondly, as a corollary, he must navigate a careful course that prevents his government from falling apart, amid subsequent ministerial resignations and visible divisions within the FdT.
