In brief: Brazil’s economic activity advances in July

* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released the latest figures for the monthly index of economic activity (IBC-Br), a proxy for GDP, which shows that the country’s economic activity expanded 0.6% in July compared with June. This is the second consecutive month of positive variation, after the IBC-Br contracted in April and May. In year-on-year terms, Brazil’s economic activity grew 5.53% in July.
