* Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has released figures showing that production at the national level increased by 12.94% in July, compared with the same month in 2020. Inei primarily attributed this rise to the low basis of comparison on account of the coronavirus (Covid-19) lockdown restrictions that were introduced last year, causing a year-on-year decline of 11.71% in national production in July 2020. Inei’s report reveals mostly positive results for the productive sectors, with yearly production increases in hospitality (+124.20%), construction (+37.40%), agriculture (+11.09%) and manufacturing (+6.70%). The only sectors that saw year-on-year declines in production were fishing (-41.39%), and mining & hydrocarbons (-0.94%).
