In brief: Mexico’s annual inflation slows

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released its latest figures on the national consumer price index (INPC), which show that monthly inflation stood at 0.19% in August. This brings Mexico’s annual inflation rate to 5.59% in August, exceeding the 3% +/-1 inflation target range set by the central bank (Banxico). The annual inflation rate has decreased slightly compared with July, when headline inflation stood at 5.81%.
