BOLIVIA: Gov’t accused of using Mesa charges as ‘bargaining chip’

On 3 September, Bolivia’s centre-right opposition party Comunidad Ciudadana (CC) argued that judicial proceedings against its leader, former president Carlos Mesa (2003-2005), are intended to pressure the opposition to support a trial of former president Jeanine Áñez (2019-2020).
