In brief: Uruguay and Turkey boost trade and investment ties

* During an official visit to Turkey, Uruguay’s foreign minister Francisco Bustillo has announced plans to strengthen economic ties between the two countries. Bustillo said that the two governments had agreed to accelerate the signing of bilateral agreements already under negotiation which include the promotion and protection of investments and on the avoidance of double taxation. These agreements are due to be signed at a meeting of a mixed commission on economic issues scheduled to take place later this year in Uruguay's capital, Montevideo. Among other things, Bustillo also announced that Uruguay would soon inaugurate an embassy in Turkey’s capital, Ankara, which will equal Turkey's level of representation in Montevideo.
