HONDURAS: Verdict in landmark case

Human rights institutions such as United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) have hailed a recent verdict issued by a Honduran court in relation to the landmark case of the 2016 killing of indigenous leader and environmentalist, Berta Cáceres, which briefly subjected Honduras to international scrutiny and the dire situation facing environmentalists and other human rights defenders (HRDs) in the country.
