* Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released its latest figures for its monthly index of economic activity (Imaep), which grew 6.6% in June compared with June 2020. This is the fourth consecutive month of expanded economic activity, after the Imaep recorded year-on-year contractions in January and February. In the first six months of the year, the Imaep increased by 6.3%. The BCP cites the
“positive performance” of the services, manufacturing, livestock, and construction sectors as driving the Imaep’s year-on-year increase in June, while noting that agriculture and electricity generation continue to temper the economy’s overall performance.
